With the 2018-19 Class B boys state tournament less than 24 hours away, let’s take a look at the top rebounders in the eight-team field.
Macauley Young | Shiloh Christian | 6-foot-9
One of the tallest players in the tournament, Shiloh Christian senior Macauley Young is a rebounding machine. Young averages 13 rebounds per contest and has the ability to haul down any rebound with his range. The 6-foot-9 center will have to be at the top of his rebounding game if the Skyhawks want to play in Saturday’s state title game.
Jonah Larson | Beulah | 6-foot-5
Last year Jonah Larson suited up for Garrison but transferred to Beulah at the beginning of this season. Larson now leads the 19-4 Miners with 10 rebounds per game and added an element to the Region 7 squad that can help them at the state tournament.
Ben Bohl | Bishop Ryan | 6-foot-3
Ben Bohl has always had a knack for getting rebounds even though he’s listed as a guard. The Bishop Ryan senior is one of the most athletic kids in Class B. He averages 9.1 rebounds per contest and needs to have a big tournament for his Lions to get back into the state title game.
Mason Hedberg | Bishop Ryan | 6-foot-3
Bishop Ryan is loaded with guards that can rebound the basketball. Senior Mason Hedberg is second on the team with 8.2 rebounds per game. Hedberg along with Bohl like to get to the basket and they are always on the lookout for the basketball.
Scott Wagner | Ellendale | 6-foot-6
Ellendale freshman center Scott Wagner has size 17 shoes if that’s not crazy enough he finished with 18 rebounds in a game earlier this season. Wagner averages a team-high 8.1 rebounds for the Region 3 team. This is going to be a big state tournament for Wagner as he can make a name for himself in front of the state.
